  • Exhaust Overheating?causing engine stall?

2006 RXP Will only run for a few minutes until exhaust overheating shuts engine down. Leaking from unknown place warm/hot water into the bilge. Ski had sat for over a year due to serious illness. New plugs and fresh fuel installed. engine did make loud noise one time sounding like possible backfire. are any codes stored that can be recovered without special tools? thank you all. Ken

You'll need to disassemble your exhaust pipe from the sst band and clean the internal cooling ports. Probably packed with sand/mud which has hardened over time. Then go through any/all cooling tubing to be sure water flows freely.

Thank you. Original post was two years ago. We had a broken clamp with hose disconnected hence the overheating exhaust and bilge flooding. Simple repair in a totally unacessable spot. Better later than never! Thank you again.
