I'm very late in posting this year's Grand Tour. If you want to ride, you have about 3 minutes left to sign up, reply and I can get you hooked up. This will be the Grand Finale year, the last one, the last hurrah, the final curtain. After 20 years, our event leaders are hanging up their hats, and the Grand Tour will be no more. In 20 years, we have raised $325,000 for the Leader Dogs organization. Leader Dogs, though based in Michigan, trains guides dogs for folks all over the USA, at no cost to the recipient, and is privately funded (no government funding); making our fundraising efforts vital to the organization's success. Riders will cover 350 miles of Lake Michigan, from Mackinaw City to Holland, in 3 days. That's a lot of riding in some of the most unforgiving water around. Over 20 years, the Tour has ridden 128,000 miles on water, and our intrepid land support crew has covered about 64,000 miles, following us on shore, ready to pluck us out of the water if we need help, schlepping gear and coolers, helping at fuel stops, taking us to the hospital a couple of times, and generally doing all the thankless, really hard work. This year, we're adding a bonus fun ride, an overnight to Mackinaw Island, via ski! The adventure begins August 8, you'll need to be in Holland Michigan Monday evening, August 7. Riders are required to raise a minimum of $500 to qualify for the ride. Please consider a small donation to "Lugnut" (Mark Luxnat), "Borderguy" (Jim Lueck) or Wavegirlie (Karen Kinsella). We accept large and small checks, cash, and the loose change from your sofa cushions.
